Walk into your oral already knowing the questions.

Built from hundreds of real checkride gouges, CLEARED turns the FAA ACS into the exact scenario questions your DPE actually asks — then makes you answer them in writing, out loud, and on a real sectional, until they're automatic. Not flashcards you'll forget. Practice that holds when your heart is pounding.

WHY GOOD PILOTS STILL BUST

The oral isn't a test of what

you know. It's a test of what

you can say while nervous.

DPEs stopped asking rote questions years ago — they hand you a scenario and

watch you think out loud. Most prep is still flashcards, and that's the gap that

busts pilots who actually know their stuff. In their own words:

ANXIETY

"No matter the evaluator, you are your biggest threat. Being so nervous you lock up will get you a retest."

— a pilot on the forums

WRONG PREP

"That prep book is a waste of paper. It doesn't prepare you for how the exams are actually conducted."

— POA, 'PPL oral exam prep'

THE STAKES

"A bust costs $1,000+ and 60 days. You get to see the test before you take it — it's called the ACS."

— community consensus

INSIDE THE WORKBOOK

You don't read it. You do

it — five ways, so it sticks.

Built from real checkride gouges and turned into activities: fill-ins, charts,

scenario questions in the DPE's own words, mark-up-the-sectional exercises,

even review games. Learning it several ways is what makes it hold when you're nervous.

1

The questions the DPE really asks

Every ACS element rewritten as the scenario an examiner would actually pose — with a write-in answer box and the reference to trace.

3

Your paperwork, in checkride order

IACRA → endorsements with expiry dates → medical & ID→ airworthiness → cross-country → weather. Never get busted before you start.

5

The mistakes that end

rides — with review activities

The areas that actually bust people, with fill-ins for your aircraft's numbers, reinforced so they stick.

2

A mock oral you can run yourself

The single highest-value prep step, scripted with examiner-style follow-ups. Paid mock sessions run $225–325. This is built in.

4

Mark it up on a real sectional

Plot the scenario, call the airspace, and answer it exactly the way you'll be asked on ride day.

6

A plan for the wait

A 4–12 week stay-sharp log for the real 2–6 month DPE backlog — the wait no other prep even mentions.

7

What happens if you don't pass

The notice of disapproval, the 60-day clock, retestcosts — in plain English. Knowing the worst case is how you stop fearing it.

WHY IT STICKS

Built on the six proven ways memory actually forms.

Learning science has pinned down six methods that genuinely make knowledge stick. Most checkride prep uses only one — rereading, the method research rates least effective. CLEARED is built on the other five, on every page:

Retrieval practice

You pull answers out of memory instead of rereading them — the single most-proven way to make knowledge durable.

Dual coding

You label, sketch, and mark up a real sectional — pairing words with visuals lays down more paths back to the knowledge.

Generation & elaboration

You write it in your own words and explain your reasoning — which builds a far stronger memory than being shown the answer.

Concrete scenarios

Every question is the real situation a DPE poses, not an abstract definition —so it transfers to the actual ride.

Interleaving

Each module ends with a mixed-topic round that catches you off guard —exactly the way your examiner will jump from weather to airspace to systems without warning.

The sixth method — spacing your practice over time — is the one thing a workbook honestly can'tmake you do; we can't stand over your shoulder and tell you when to study. So we built it into the free 30-Day Countdown: one small rep a day. Together, that's every proven method there is.

A retake costs ~$1,000+ and puts you on a 60-day clock. This costs about $76.

The cheapest insurance policy in aviation.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Straight answers.

Is it really fillable, or just a PDF I print?

You do NOT print the digital PDF. It is not able to be printed.
The digital version has type-in fields for tablet, phone or laptop.
OR
You can get the physical mail to your doorstep workbook option, which mails the printed book and includes the digital PDF in the order.

Is this for the written FAA test or the oral/checkride?

This is for the checkride oral and checkride overall.
You can find some help for the written FAA test in the free prep resources section.

Is it current with the latest ACS?

Yes — the workbook is aligned to the current FAA Private Pilot ACS.
However, it is always
your responsibility to check if there has been any changes or updates.
Defer to the FAA, FAR/AIM, ACS, and CFI.

I'm on my third CFI instructor.

The path to becoming a pilot can be difficult. Finding a new CFI is okay. Do not stay with a CFI that is not right for you.
This workbook helps with exactly this. The document tracker within the workbook lets a new instructor see what's already been done — so everybody is on the same page (no pun intended).

How long until the physical workbook arrives?

It's printed to order and typically ships within 3–5business days.
If your ride is next week, the digital version comes with the purchase of the physical workbook.
You will have the digital fillable PDF to work on until the physical workbook arrives.

CLEARED FOR THE RIDE

You can't control the DPE. You can control how ready you walk in.

The best time to start prepping was your first lesson — the second best time is today. You don't cram a checkride, you build toward it. Fillable PDF only, OR the printed book with the PDF included free.
